I guess you could say that my love for photography stems from my love of art and design. As a kid, I always had a sketch book in hand and wouldn't miss an episode of Imagination Station on PBS (remember that show?!). It wasn't until my junior year in high school that my obsession with photography began. And I was kickin' it old school with my Nikon FM10 and endless hours in the dark room.

Fast forward a few years… In the spring of 2007, I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both advertising and telecommunications with a minor in art design. Shortly after graduation, I married my best friend, Greg, a super talented IT professional. We made Richmond, Virginia our home with our spoiled, but oh-so-sweet pomeranian named Bentley (really, he's more like a child to us than a dog!).

I am a member of several professional photography organizations, including the PPA (Professional Photographers of America). Though photography has my heart, I am also the owner and lead designer of Ashley Brown Design, a full-service graphic design firm specializing in branding and packaging.

MY TECHNIQUE

I am a natural light photographer. This means that I use only available light for my photos. I don't show up to the shoot with a bunch of bulky lighting equipment and awkward cables. It's just me, my camera and maybe a reflector or two. I believe this gives my photography a fresh and organic sense of color and depth. My ultimate goal is to capture images that are fashionable and modern – yet classic and full of the essence and personality of my clients.

A LITTLE LESS FORMAL

I adore my dog, Bentley. I am a list-making maniac and love things to be organized... and color-coded. I collect vintage cameras. Sushi is my favorite food group. I believe that Disney World really is the happiest place on Earth. Peonies are my favorite. A Sonic Route 44 Diet Dr. Pepper with diet cherry flavoring is my drink of choice. I laugh... a lot. I'm obsessed with black and white television shows (particularly I Love Lucy) and prefer classic movies to any current blockbuster hit.
